This vegetable, also known as Ladies\u2019 Fingers, is enjoyed all over the world and can be found in cuisines from North America, to Africa, to Asia! They are cultivated mostly for their edible green seed pods in tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate regions and are in the same plant family as hibiscus and cotton!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img src=\"http:\/\/blog.grubmarket.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/SM_Okra_2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Okra Seeds\" class=\"wp-image-7720\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2>WHAT IS IT LIKE?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The flavor is somewhat like a cross between asparagus and eggplant. What is unique about it is that it is mucilaginous, which means that when cut and\/or cooked, it becomes gooey or slimy in texture (sounds weird, but tastes great).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img src=\"http:\/\/blog.grubmarket.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Okra_BLOG.jpg\" alt=\"Okra - Vegetable\" class=\"wp-image-5825\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2>WHAT ARE THE HEALTH BENEFITS?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Okra is a superfood and contains potassium, vitamin B, vitamin C, folic acid, and calcium. It\u2019s low in calories and has a high fiber content.
